Yesterday, I wrote two articles on how to share & promote Medium stories on Reddit. (Awaiting review & publication).

Although, I pointed out the importance of promoting others' works, other sources as well as participating in genteel discussions, I wasn't aware of the 1:9 ratio.

I even stated as one of the rules for my subredit https://reddit.com/Muse2Muse - "No spams or excessive self promotion."

Boom, your story popped up on my feeds this afternoon.
