Yes. Jotterpad is a great minimalist writing app.
When I started using it, it came with 3 tiers of licenses - free, pro, and creative. I paid for the pro version which was supposed to run for life. But midcourse, Jotterpad changed licensing. I must now renew annually to get access to my files.
I had to copy my files and start using a free and even better alternative. I've never looked back ever since.
NOTE; Jotterpad is very good in what it does and I have no problem with their licensing.
But when a developer promised you a lifetime license and then lock you out midcourse, what do we call that?
