For some, managers who say one thing while doing another the exact opposite always happen in the department. I soon learned to clam up, or keep on speaking up at the risk of my head. Some managers may prod you to speak up just to get at those who support or rightfully oppose some management decisions.

My experience was in a homogeneous black work-environment though.
