Biologically and in many cultures most women prefer older men while men prefer women younger than them too.

The only area of concern is when the age gap is too wide. Aside, it is not all old men that manipulate younger girls/ladies. Consider this, what does it say about some ladies who abandon good older men just because their (the girls) "eyes have now opened" to see boys/men closer to their ages (upon the ladies attaining economic independence)?

It seems to me there is excessive generalization in this story. Moreover, the full range of relational dynamics have not been addressed here.
